The way it was written!

We often hear and read about the fore "Parents" (forefathers is not PC) and how good they were at writing the constitution and other documents.  As soon as that comment is made a question arises.  If it is so great, why do we have to tinker with it and second guess what was really meant.  For example, freedom of speech was intended to prevent interference in political speech and religion not to allow pornographic speech and pictures.  While it is true this country allows freedoms it is possible to allow freedoms to excess.  How can a country pride itself on the rule of law and still not provide the laws that we need while passing stupid laws that restrict the minority.  Why do we concern ourselves about freedom of dress code and not deal with real offensive matters.  Why are we still trying to make the entire country one federal nation instead of 50 states with their own laws and ways of life.

How about we go back and look at the original intent of the original document, the Constitution, and see that those with foresight realized how things would be if the congress got it's hands on the income tax!  Those wise people knew the tax would give more power than intended to the congress.  That's why they limited the funding to customs  and tariffs.  That's why the framers left the majority of operations to the States and kept only those functions needed by the Federal Government in the hands of the Federal Government.  It was never intended that the Federal Government would become the controlling, single major force in this country.  Disputes between states.  Money and Minting.  The national military (for defense) for conducting war.  Rare cases of law that needed national judgement.  National treaties.  That was the extent of the Federal power.  Many framers were afraid that what has happened, would happen.  It has.  The national power has diluted the States.

Each state should be making the laws it's people live by.  This should not be a function of the National Government.  How about minimum wage?  Why is that a national issue?  The federal Government should have such a minor place in our lives that we might forget about it and the state government should have a much greater place because we live under it.  Most people don't even know their local representatives to State government but they know the names of the big mouths that plaster their TV screens each day.  Therefore, it seems that for one to stay in the news is a best case situation for Senators and Representatives.

I sadly realize that there is no honor, or Ladies and Gentlemen, or even representation in congress.  That is confirmed each day in the news.  Votes are for sale.  Deals are made without regard for the effect on the population.  We hire these people to represent us.  To use their best knowledge to advance the United States of Americia not their own agenda or party.  These people are supposed to vote and do what we, far away in fly over country, can not do with information we don't have.  They are supposed to be us!  One thing the congress should do but won't is change the way the votes are counted across the nation.  Each state should cast the electoral votes in the percentage they were cast for president.  Thus, we in fly over country get a vote.  As it is now it is winner take all.  Shouldn't be.  Michigan votes Democratic because of the Southeast portion of the state and the many education centers.  We "others" don't count.  The count should be by representatives and not be a take all law.  But Then, we're not really concerned with being fair....are we?
